A recent UN report on the MENA region suggested that three key factors are needed for the Arab world to engage in a development path: political liberalisation, universal education and female emancipation. The ACT and ACTME remain committed to offering world-leading professional treasury education for the benefit of individuals and their organisations to support at least a part of this process.
The 2011 Deals of the Year Awards celebrated in this edition attracted a record number of nominations from the GCC and further afield (including Palestine, Egypt and Iraq). In total more than 15 different institutions forwarded their nominations. While political uncertainty has had an impact on regional capital and banking markets, it is hugely encouraging to see treasurers and their colleagues confronting and resolving their business challenges. In addition to the celebration of treasury excellence at the Awards dinner, the ACTME annual conference will be an opportunity for friends, colleagues and peers to network and share their experiences in addressing contemporary treasury issues.
