I attended my very first Certificate in International Cash Management (CertCM) residential course for two days in January, and loved every minute of it! The tuition from Michèle Allman-Ward was excellent, as expected, considering Michèle’s extensive experience in the financial markets as well as in training. Michèle quickly built a rapport with the students, who seemed a great group. A mix of corporate, financial institution and consultancy backgrounds, the course presented a great opportunity to network and build relationships which will hold for the future. Michèle not only helped the students in terms of technical content, but focused also on what to expect from the exams and how best to prepare for and manage them.
I had the opportunity also to network, and met some very bright and interesting individuals. I was thrilled to hear from some that they were re-inspired coming on the course, which had given them new energy to learn and bring back more into their role at work. For others they were looking to complete the certification and then get their teams trained up too, either in this certification or another from the ACT. I believe very much as Chief Executive in seeing and experiencing everything we do for myself – it is not a question of lack of trust in others, but it has been my policy also in other organisations to really understand ‘the business’, and I am doing the same here. That’s why I have also been doing some of the ACT exams myself – I really want to understand what the student is experiencing. And it’s great to build a relationship with people like Michèle who want to work hand-in-hand with the ACT, and have such passion and affection for what we stand for as an association. I am looking forward very much to hearing how all the students in this cohort get on, and to attending other of our courses in the future until I have experienced the whole range.
