Payments are becoming a “Hot Topic” – especially with a number of payment systems switching to the new standard – ISO 20022 including CHAPS which went live in June 2023. In this update on payments, we highlight a consultation paper to extend the opening hours of the CHAPS system and a working paper on card scheme fees issued by the payments regulator. We also provide details of the European Commission’s proposed Third Payment Services Directive and a new Payment Services Regulation. There are also two reports featured – one on e-commerce and one that identifies key players across the EU payments landscape.
