Payment landscape: June 2022
This blog includes several consultations from the UK and EU authorities that cover Confirmation of Payee and the Payments Services Directive 2. The Bank for International Settlements has released a report looking at how central banks could extend opening hours to increase the overlap of their high value payment systems and improve the speed of cross-border payments. A number of research reports are also highlighted including one on the growth of mobile money, and another showing the uptake of digital payment methods across each of the countries in the EU.
This blog features market developments and reports from Accenture and the Federal Reserve. It also includes information on Strong Customer Authentication which, from 14 March 2022, came into force in the UK. This means that customers now need to confirm their identity when paying online to increase the security of transactions.
We started the year with a blog that provided updates from key regulators, and a useful report from the European Payments Council on Payment Threats and Fraud Trends.
