The conflict in Ukraine highlights once again the capacity of events to suddenly shake our assumptions. And while we can never hope to foresee and mitigate every risk, the treasurer will need to consider a number of short- and longer-term risks and potential mitigants now more than ever.
As a global organisation with members in more than 80 countries, the ACT is well aware of the importance of solidarity across borders and within the treasury community. For treasurers the events in Ukraine only further demonstrate some crucial aspects of the role: the need to identify and manage risk; to understand the dynamic regulatory and legal picture that can evolve at short notice and with dizzying speed; and the need to protect and offer security to staff across the world.
To help treasurers ensure they are up to speed on the latest developments that may affect their work, last week we wrote an article providing a checklist for treasurers, covering everything from sanctions to trade risk and investor relations. You can find the blog here.
This month’s online articles from The Treasurer bring you the latest on special acquisition companies (SPACs) – and why their initial promise has recently been replaced by more sobering reality, as well as a selection of some of the highlights from Issue 1, 2022 of The Treasurer magazine.
