To promote growth within the treasury profession, the ACT Educational Trust charity offers a bursary scheme to provide financial assistance for students from developing countries who are unable to fund or gain sponsorship for their ACT studies. We're delighted to share the success of one such inspirational bursary holder based in Malawi, who recently passed CertTF with a distinction: Chikondano Faith Chisala, Senior Treasury Dealer, NBS Bank Limited
'I entered a career in treasury as part of a two-year management trainee program at NBS Bank and I had rotated at the treasury department. I have passion for financial markets and found that while the working in treasury was demanding, I enjoyed my work and the work was intellectually stimulating. I enrolled with the intention of gaining global expertise in treasury and working towards achieving ACT accreditation. Studying with ACT opened many doors for me, I was very fortunate to have been awarded the ACT Education Trust bursary to study the Certificate in Treasury Fundamentals (CertTF) and Certificate in Treasury (CertT) courses. With the ever changing financial and technological landscape, I found this CertTF to be relevant to me as a treasury professional working in a developing country, particularly with regard to developing advanced risk management tools to manage financial, business and operational risks that are very common in developing countries. After completing the CertTF, I was promoted to Senior Treasury Dealer. Working as a Senior Treasury Dealer, I am responsible for managing the bank’s liquidity, formulating and implementing trading strategies through currency and money market instrument trading. Not only that, I also grew intellectually - from a dealer working in the Malawian FX and money markets - to developing a skill set in international capital markets, capital structure, investment strategies, Dodd-Frank, EMIR and practical financial risk management tools. I encourage anyone serious about their career in finance to study with ACT. The CertTF and CertT courses are rich, well structured, practical and they have equipped me with tools to apply in my day-to-day operations as well as providing me with a good foundation to support my future career aspirations. I recommend ACT courses to anyone who wants to rise above the crowds.'
The ACT Educational Trust is currently offering bursaries to cover the course and assessment fees for the Certificate in Treasury Fundamentals (CertTF). For more information click here.
