To promote growth within the treasury profession, the ACT Educational Trust charity offers a bursary scheme to provide financial assistance for students from developing countries who are unable to fund or gain sponsorship for their ACT studies. We're delighted to share the success of one such inspirational bursary holder based in Zambia, who passed CertTF: Misozi Angela Masotomela, former Accounts Assistant (Payables) at Africonnect Zambia (now inq. Digital Zambia).
“My most recent finance role involved handling the Accounts Payable function for the entire organisation mainly focusing on managing the AP function (including supplier and other external relations), maintenance of General & AP ledgers, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, ensuring timely payments, dealing with internal and external queries regarding invoices and payments and month-end closure financial reporting.
The course, CertTF, supported my understanding of cash and liquidity management, understanding risk management and other treasury operations, and was also helpful in relation to the banking partners I had contact with. It also helped me with treasury terminology and by providing an overview of the treasury function as a whole. Taking the qualification gave me an added advantage and confidence and I am proud to have the designatory letter after my name.
Studying through ACT Learning was a user-friendly experience. More generally studying online provided me with flexibility so I could manage my time between my job and my studies, and this worked well.
Being awarded the bursary was rewarding and motivating. I believe the ACT qualification will give me a competitive advantage to securing a challenging growth opportunity in the future.”
