In the recent member survey you told us that supplementing your treasury technical skills with leadership, influencing, management and communication skills was essential to progressing your career. We listened to that when developing the Career Hub, so there’s a wealth of content covering broader business and behavioural skills, all mapped against our competency framework.
So says an article featured on our new ACT Career Hub, just one of many interesting articles, courses, podcasts, videos and other resources available to members and students to support your career development.
But don’t just take my word for it, since its launch last month, members have undertaken over 800 activities, with the competency framework and job hunting being the most popular modules. The e-learning courses, career assessments and CV builder were the most popular tools. If you haven’t visited the Career Hub yet, please do and let me know what you think at membership@treasurers.org.
Another recent addition to the range of benefits available to members and proving popular is our mentoring scheme, Mentor Me, relevant at any stage of your career and providing an excellent professional development opportunity for both mentor and mentee. If you’re interested in being a mentor or mentee, or even both, our online platform will help you make the initial match based on areas of common interest and experience.
Despite the tongue-in-cheek title above, we’re actually working hard to support your professional development and help you meet your career aspirations. Watch this space, we promise there’s more to follow.
I was really pleased that in the member survey you told us that ACT membership represented good value for money. We’ve continued that trend and are offering the Career Hub and mentoring scheme to members and students at no additional charge.
If you are not a member or currently studying with us and worried you’re missing out, sign up for digital membership and become an eAffiliate – we’d love to welcome you to our membership community.
But going back to the Career Hub article, I think I will go and put my feet up now, take a few deep breaths, and recharge. Apparently it will make my brain bigger, faster and younger! Whilst doing so, I will reflect on the person who has provided me and so many others with such excellent career support and guidance over the years – John Grout, HonFCT, Policy and Technical Director, who retired from the ACT recently. All the very best John, and thank you!
