One of the privileges of my role is to travel - to meet treasurers and members, to represent the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) at international events, and to work with partners on collaborative projects.
This autumn my calendar for such activities is looking pretty full. Over the next month I will visit Dubai - for the annual ACT Middle East Treasury Summit, New York - to represent the ACT at an International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) meeting, and Madrid where the boards of the European Association of Corporate Treasurers (EACT) and the International Group of Treasury Associations (IGTA) will be meeting. In between these trips I’ll also be heading to London, Cambridge, Manchester and Dublin for a range of other meetings and events.
I won’t lie. This kind of schedule in a few short weeks requires some careful planning and sophisticated logistics (including a number of suitcases packed in advance to allow for quick switchovers!). Some of the travel itineraries across timezones result in rather less sleep than I’d like, and I will be grateful to my team of dedicated colleagues ‘holding the fort’ back at base, keeping me briefed and ensuring we make the most of the meetings and opportunities which arise. But it will also be exhilarating and fascinating to have this window on what is happening in the world of treasury and beyond across so many different places and organisations.
I will do my best to post the occasional LinkedIn update from my different destinations. If you are going to be at any of my upcoming events and locations do come and say hello. Depending on the day, you may find me close to the coffee machine working on my timezone management!
See you down the road…
