I left this blog last night before our ‘Eat, Drink, Connect’ festivities. How did it go? A resounding success is definitely the verdict even though some of us bailed out fairly early! And then, Wow! That was the way to end!
A fantastic turnout for the Question Time panel moderated by Kirsty Wark. Great entertainment, some lively debate and a really bright, engaged audience. And that could easily be our theme for the whole conference!
More seriously, there was still work to be done on Friday morning with an 8am talkingtreasury – well attended given the hour! – and then two closing Track sessions (one moderated by your correspondent) on Investment and Funding Strategy.
I can’t say enough how attentive, how alert and how challenging the audiences have been for all the working sessions at this conference. In particular the enormous range of organisations and geographies represented has given real depth to the discussions and the subsequent networking opportunities. As one treasurer said to me:
If I learn something every day that can help me do my job better, this is time and money well spent. My problem, and what a problem, is that every session throws out something to consider, to work on and to challenge how I do my job
I can’t think there’s much more that a professional body like us can do for our community than live up to what this treasurer wants.
So, finally, if you missed out this year, come and join us at any ACT event over the next 12 months, keep up to date with The Treasurer, and make a date in your diary to be with us in Manchester, 20-22 May, 2015.
