The Community Hub is an online resource where you can connect with treasury professionals from wherever you are, explore and share resources, and join online live sessions covering new topics.
We speak to Sarah Evans, Systems & Operations Manager at the ACT about the inspiration behind the Community Hub and how to get involved.
“The Community Hub has been designed for members as a way to enable deeper engagement, support, networking and communication. We wanted to provide a centralised space for all members to be able to discuss issues, topics and ideas, and to provide an easy way to access information and learn from each other.
We launched the Community Hub to students in November 2023, and then to all members in May 2024. Students will find the topical sessions complement their learning resources, while members may find these topical sessions, along with the refresher courses, useful as a supplement or reminder on any areas they want to overview. Live sessions really bring colour to the content – and the Q&A sessions at the end of them enable all participants to ask specific questions. It’s great to see members interacting with the speakers and delving into the topics. For those who may have missed some of these sessions, all our live sessions are recorded, go to the topical section or CPD refresher courses section to listen to them at a time that suits you.
We’re really lucky to have Jon Jeffery, lead tutor on the qualifications, as a key contributor to the Community Hub. Within the discussion forum, he is on hand to answer any questions you may have and to post engaging content. He also contributes to the library and presents both the topical sessions and the Professional Development Refresher courses.
When talking to members I find it useful to go through the different aspects of the Community Hub. The Community Hub is an ever-growing discussion forum and resource library, which brings together our treasury community.
The hub consists of a variety of different resources, including:
There are different ways to interact with the content. I find interacting with the discussion forum is interesting – you can join in a discussion or create a new one, you can like or comment on a resource or sit back and read other members posts.
Another way to get involved is to attend one of the live sessions throughout the year.
We offer ten topical sessions throughout the year and we have already discussed:
Our career stories sessions are held bi-monthly and look at our speakers’ different career journeys. Knowing how others have developed their careers; what has helped them, what they would do differently, their top tips for progression and what business skills they have found most helpful. These sessions help you understand how diverse a treasury career can be and inspire new career avenues for you to take.
Listen to the recordings we have so far from Roshun Tulkens (Director of Treasury, Averda), Steph Morris (Group Treasurer of Liquid Tech), Bob Williams (Finance Director of Fairview New Homes Ltd) and Nora Naadu Seena (Regional Treasurer, MEA, Pakistan and Turkey for Nestle).
Finally, the professional development refresher courses are a great resource too, providing an overview of a topic followed by practical examples or applications. The areas discussed so far are:
If you attend one of the live sessions, please complete the feedback form – these will help us to develop future sessions.
If you have any questions on how to get involved, especially if you would like to be a guest speaker, please do email us at learning@treasurers.org.
My final comment is that the Community Hub is your Community Hub. Add your comments, feed into the discussions, listen to the sessions – and check in regularly to see what’s new and upcoming!”
