The ACT launched the Advanced Diploma in 2018, to replace the previous MCT Advanced Diploma qualification. Sadly, over the last few years the number of students signing up to the qualification has been very low and continues to decrease. In agreement with ACT’s Council, we have decided to pause accepting new students onto the qualification beyond the current cohort, but we will review this should interest increase. We realise that this news will be disappointing, however it is not practical nor indeed feasible for the ACT, as a not-for-profit membership organisation, to run the qualification for a very small cohort due to the high cost of the support that is required.
Current Advanced Diploma students will continue to be supported in completing the qualification over the next year with tutor support and revision. We would encourage students to take advantage of the assessment sessions available until January 2024 and work to complete the qualification in that time, however we will reassess the situation towards the end of 2024, if needed.
The Advanced Diploma is recognised as representing the highest level of treasury qualification and while it will now be possible for some Associate Members who meet certain criteria to apply for Fellowship, the qualification is in fact a separate and unique award at masters level. The accreditation, including the certificate and digital badge, is unique to the Advanced Diploma qualification and will differentiate those who have taken it. We will continue to look at what more we can do to recognise the considerable achievement of those who have completed the qualification.
The ACT has decided to open Fellowship to those who are experienced treasurers but who may not have taken the ACT Advanced Diploma in Treasury Management. This broadens the membership tier to embrace those who are advocates for the treasury profession, while not detracting from the achievement of the masters level qualification, which remains a separate award and is recognised with a unique digital badge and certificate.
Many of our Associate Members have continued to work in a treasury-related role since achieving the Diploma in Treasury Management and have further developed their skills and experience over a number of years. In line with other professional bodies such as ACCA and ICAEW, Council has agreed to recognise this achievement by providing the opportunity for experienced Associate Members to upgrade to Fellowship.
The following requirements apply for Associate Members wishing to become a Fellow of the ACT.
