Christmas is just around the corner. As we rush around buying presents, meeting friends and celebrating with colleagues we should remember to put aside some time to think about our plans for the new year – including our career plan. 2016 has been an exciting year for the ACT and we have developed lots of great tools to help with your professional development. The mentoring scheme has had over 100 mentees join this year alone, and we have heard great things from both the mentor and mentee perspective. If you haven’t signed up as either a mentor or mentee yet go to the MentorMe website to find out more. We had our inaugural Mentee and Mentor of the Year awards this year – read 10 questions with Raj to hear from the Mentee of the Year 2016 and see what he gained through the mentoring scheme. The Career hub continues to provide useful career development resources – the highest viewed content includes the e-learning hub, career assessments and the interview simulator. Industry reports have also proved popular, as have the competency framework resources. There is a video that highlights the benefits of the Career hub. Do remember to have a look if you haven’t been on the hub yet! We launched ACT Learning in July, which provides treasury qualifications, eLearning and training for professionals looking to progress their careers and also custom solutions for teams. Perfect if you're looking for practical courses with learning you can apply immediately in the workplace. Other initiatives have included our new membership website, interactive CPD quizzes and CPD podcasts. You can get involved with the ACT through regional groups, special interest groups and project team – full information is available at treasurers.org/getinvolved. Thank you to all the members who have been involved so far, and remember to include this in your CPD record. Our online CPD log is a great way to record your learning. If you don’t know what objectives to set we can help! Use our suggested objectives available through the CPD log to get an idea of what you might like to do based on our Competency Framework. Even if you only put 1 or 2 objectives down it will help you to think about your development and focus on what is important for you in the coming year.
