The ACT Middle East Treasury Awards celebrate the achievements of the corporate treasurer and recognise companies and individuals that have shown innovation and excellence in corporate treasury in the region. Winning an award is a great way to strengthen both individual and corporate profiles, bringing peer and industry acknowledgement. 

Taking place on the first evening of the ACT Middle East Treasury Summit

New for this year, the awards ceremony will take place as part of a standing networking reception, and the dress code is 'business smart'. We hope you will be attending the ACT Middle East Treasury Summit during the day, in which case you can join us for the awards presentations immediately after, which will be in the same location at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.

Award category criteria

TREASURY PROJECT OF THE YEAR

Treasury Management Award

Deals/projects covering cash management, working capital, trade finance, supply chain finance and systems implementations

Corporate Funding Award

Deals/projects covering all methods of capital raising and funding and M&A

Sustainability Initiative – NEW

Deals/projects where treasury has supported the sustainability goals of their organisation, whether with sustainable funding, investments or other projects.  The impact of the initiative, as well as any innovative aspects and the broader strategic implications, will all be considered.

 

Category description

These awards consider noteworthy deals/projects on the basis of excellence in corporate treasury, as demonstrated by any or all of the following:

  • sound treasury/finance management
  • efficient pricing
  • optimal or innovative structure
  • relative success in prevailing market conditions
  • judges consider all types of deals, whatever the size.

 
What are we looking for?

Our judges review the entries carefully, and will be looking for certain details as part of this process. Strong entries will cover the points below:

  • why the deal/project was important to the organisation
  • it fits into the overall strategy of the organisation
  • to what extent the team involved influenced the type of deal/project
  • which other departments were impacted or involved in the deal
  • how relevant stakeholders were engaged
  • the complexity of the deal
  • any innovative elements of the deal
  • what makes it stand out and why?

 

Entry requirements:

  • the deal/project must involve a non-financial corporate organisation (not banks, financial institutions or government departments) and the treasury team must have played a significant role
  • all sizes of deal and company will be taken into consideration
  • to qualify the deal/project must have been executed by the treasury team/treasurer within the Middle East or Africa
  • you can nominate a corporate organisation or enter yourself.

Data needed to support the entry: total amount of deal/project, summary of structure, tranches, pricing, coupon issue/re-offer, spread, shares, fees*.

*Please note: Details around the fees will be looked at loosely as part of the judging process, so please include as much information as you are able to. This will be used for the purposes of judging only and treated as confidential.

TREASURY TEAMS AND PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

Small/Medium and Large Treasury Teams of the Year Awards

 

Category description

This category looks to identify corporate treasury teams that are highly regarded by peers and advisers.

You can nominate on the basis of either:

  • the broad achievements of the team across the main areas of treasury - cash management, corporate finance, risk management, treasury operations and corporate governance or
  • because of one or two specific achievements in any one of these areas
  • If you are unsure which category your company falls into, please get in touch at actme@treasurers.org.

 

What we are looking for

Our judges review the entries carefully, and will be looking for certain details as part of this process.  Strong entries will cover the points below:

  • who was involved (the make-up of the treasury team)?
  • what were the broad achievements of the team?
  • the area(s) of treasury where the team make a real impact (cash management, corporate finance, risk management, treasury operations and corporate governance)
  • what makes the team stand out and why?
  • were there any key team roles and how did the team work together?

 

Entry requirements:

  • anyone in the treasury community can nominate a team in each category
  • the team must be based, or have its head office, in the Middle East region
  • you can nominate your own treasury team
  • you must declare if the team is your client

 

Treasury Professional of the Year 

 

Category description

This category recognises an individual who is considered to have demonstrated excellence and made an outstanding contribution to their team, organisation, or the profession.

 

What we are looking for

Our judges review the entries carefully, and will be looking for certain details as part of this process.  Strong entries will cover the points below:

  • what makes the individual stand out and why?
  • discuss their standout technical skills and ability and where they have applied this
  • consider where they have gone above and beyond expectations in supporting treasury teams
  • mention any particular area(s) where the individual has made a real impact
  • feedback from other team members and key stakeholders to support your entry

 

Entry requirements:

  • anyone in the treasury community is entitled to nominate
  • all levels of entrants will be considered from all sizes of organisations
  • the individual must be based, or have their company’s head office, in the Middle East region
  • you can nominate yourself or someone in your own organisation
  • you must declare if the individual is your client
